Sheriff: Michigan Homeowner Fatally Shoots Armed Intruder on Christmas Night

  • Deputies responded around 7:10 p.m. on Dec. 25 to the 5500 block of Nicholson Road near Fowlerville for reports of suspicious activity and shots fired.
  • According to the sheriff’s office, the intruder entered the residence and fired multiple times, striking the homeowner twice before the homeowner returned fire.
  • The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was reportedly the estranged husband of a visiting woman and had traveled from the Lake Orion area.
  • The homeowner sustained gunshot wounds not believed to be life-threatening and was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
