Sheinelle Jones to Return to Today on Friday With Personal Interview

Her first on‑air remarks since Uche Ojeh’s May death from glioblastoma will focus on parenting through grief.

Overview

  • Jones will be back in Studio 1A on Friday, Sept. 5, resuming her role on the third hour of Today.
  • The broadcast will feature a pre-taped, in-depth conversation with Savannah Guthrie in which Jones shares a message of hope and describes the past months as a “beautiful nightmare.”
  • Her return follows an extended leave that began after her Dec. 18, 2024 appearance, which she later explained was to address a family health matter.
  • Uche Ojeh, Jones’s husband, died in May at age 45 after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
  • Today colleagues publicly announced Ojeh’s death on May 23 and attended his May 30 funeral, as Jones focused on caring for their three children.
