Overview

• The decree published August 4 in the Diario Oficial de la Federación came into force on August 5, classifying a broad portfolio of public works as priority or strategic.
• All expenditures under the decree must be charged to existing budgets, and no new appropriations are authorized for the current or future fiscal years.
• Designated transport projects include extending the Tren Maya to Puerto Progreso, adding passenger lines from Mexico City to Pachuca, Nuevo Laredo, Nogales and Veracruz, and expanding airports and maritime ports.
