Overview
- Ten nominees were submitted for ratification: five for the Comisión Reguladora de Telecomunicaciones (CRT) and five for the Comisión Nacional Antimonopolio (CNA), each with staggered first terms of three to seven years.
- The CRT slate—Ledénika Mackensie Méndez, María de las Mercedes Olivares, Adán Salazar, Tania Villa Trápala and Norma Solano—was sent to the Senate’s Radio, Television and Cinematography Committee.
- The CNA slate—Andrea Marván Saltiel, Ana María Reséndiz Mora, Óscar Alejandro Gómez Romero, Ricardo Salgado Perrilliat and Haydeé Soledad Aragón Martínez—was referred to the Economy Committee.
- Under the July law, the CRT will regulate spectrum, orbital resources, broadcasting and telecom networks within the ATDT structure, while the CNA, sectorized to the Economy Ministry, will police competition across markets.
- The review comes as the outgoing IFT manages severance and temporary rehiring to keep operations running, and as observers question the independence of nominees with recent roles in the ATDT.
