Overview
- President Claudia Sheinbaum submitted five nominees for the Comisión Reguladora de Telecomunicaciones and five for the Comisión Nacional Antimonopolio, formally launching the confirmation process.
- Senators read the nominations in plenary and referred them to the Commission on Radio, Television and Cinematography (CRT list) and the Commission of Economy (CNA list).
- The CRT slate is Ledénika Mackensie Méndez González, María de las Mercedes Olivares Tresgallo, Adán Salazar Garibay, Tania Villa Trápala and Norma Solano Rodríguez, with staggered terms from three to seven years.
- The CNA slate is Andrea Marván Saltiel, Ana María Reséndiz Mora, Óscar Alejandro Gómez Romero, Ricardo Salgado Perrilliat and Haydee Soledad Aragón Martínez, also with initial staggered terms.
- The new bodies replace the IFT and Cofece under a July law, with the CRT housed in the ATDT and responsible for spectrum, broadcasting and telecom networks, while the Senate’s majority is expected to facilitate ratification within the non‑extendable 30‑day period.
