Sheinbaum Launches Water Megaproject for Campeche, Rolls Out Farm Plan Backing 7,881 Producers

The initiative couples long-horizon drinking water works with targeted supports to lift rice, milk and meat production across the state.

Overview

  • 'Agua para Campeche' is funded at roughly 1.4 billion pesos with work slated from November 2025 to April 2027 to secure potable supply for more than 260,000 residents and create about 3,000 jobs.
  • Conagua detailed an acuaférico delivering 1,300 liters per second to Campeche City by retiring 35 saline wells and building a pumping plant, an 18.5 km line and 12.6 km of pipe replacement for 30–40 years of service.
  • Distribution upgrades in Xpujil include a 3.7 km main, 30 km of secondary lines, rehabilitation of two tanks and construction of two more to complement the López MateosXpujil aqueduct.
  • 'Plan Campeche' totals 1,238 million pesos and targets annual outputs of 100,000 tons of rice, 27,000 tons of meat and 55 million liters of milk through direct cash supports, inputs and machinery.
  • The farm program covers fertilizer and certified seed for rice growers, genetic and equipment supports for dairy and cattle, six collection centers and a new pasteurizing plant, with delivery pledged directly to beneficiaries.
