Sheinbaum Launches Repaving Trains With Mid-2026 Target to Rehabilitate All Federal Highways

In-house convoys will rebuild road bases for lower costs with longer-lasting results.

Overview

  • Two repaving convoys began work on the TexcocoEcatepec and Texcoco–Los Reyes stretches as the national rollout gets underway.
  • The first stage includes 10 convoys supported by 152 new machines—such as cold planers, bitumen distributors, rollers and pavers—with 123 operators already trained.
  • Officials reported 15,470 million pesos allocated for priority maintenance and an 85% progress metric across 4,000 kilometers of works.
  • Additional trains are slated for delivery within roughly two weeks to Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chihuahua, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco and Veracruz.
  • Repairs will vary by corridor, from deep rehabilitation to targeted pothole fixes, with night work scheduled from 22:00 to 04:00 to reduce traffic disruption.
