Sheinbaum Launches Navy-Run Marinabús as Acapulco Recovery Push Accelerates

Overview

  • In a ceremony at the port, President Claudia Sheinbaum put the Marinabús into service under Semar operation to link Puerto Marqués and the Zócalo as a new bay shuttle.
  • The vessel is a 25‑meter catamaran with capacity for about 90 passengers and published single fares of 30 pesos for locals, 60 for national visitors and 160 for international tourists.
  • Sheinbaum inaugurated Acapulco’s ISSSTE Regional Hospital, built with an investment reported above 3 billion pesos, with outpatient clinics scheduled to open on Aug. 25.
  • The Senderos de Paz street‑rehabilitation and security program began Aug. 20 to upgrade roughly 20 km by December, with reported budgets varying between 60 million and 110 million pesos.
  • The presidency cites more than 7,000 million pesos this year for water, drainage and sanitation works and over 250,000 homes aided, while ASIPONA Acapulco will see only 10% of its facilities rehabilitated.
