Overview

  • President Claudia Sheinbaum gave the flag-off for construction of the Tepalcates II, Presa Trancas and El Chical bridges in Manzanillo with a combined 1.915 billion peso investment.
  • The federal government allocated 78 billion pesos to expand the Port of Manzanillo from 450 to 1,880 hectares and boost its annual container capacity to 10 million TEUs under Secretaría de Marina oversight.
  • Authorities project the port expansion will create 65,000 jobs and generate 488 million dollars in annual revenue while easing chronic congestion at Mexico’s busiest maritime gateway.
  • The National Port System Administration withdrew its initial environmental impact statement and has relaunched public consultations to address concerns over damage to the Laguna de Cuyutlán ecosystem.
  • Redirected resources of 850 billion pesos recovered from corruption continue to fund welfare programs that underpin popular support for infrastructure under the Fourth Transformation.
