Sheinbaum Inaugurates Navy-Run Marinabús to Speed Travel Across Acapulco Bay

Overview

  • The Secretaría de Marina will operate the 25-meter, 110-ton catamaran built by the Astillero de Marina de Acapulco, the shipyard’s 65th vessel since 1946.
  • The service is described as linking Puerto Marqués with Acapulco’s Zócalo, carrying about 90 passengers at roughly 17 km/h.
  • Announced fares are 30 pesos for residents, 60 for domestic tourists and 160 for international visitors.
  • Sheinbaum led the abanderamiento and crew oath aboard Acapulco 1 alongside Navy chief Raymundo Pedro Morales, Defense secretary Ricardo Trevilla and Governor Evelyn Salgado.
  • Before the ceremony, Sheinbaum reviewed ASIPONA port works and highlighted ongoing security coordination by federal, state and municipal forces to make the city safer.
