Overview
- President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez officially opened the reconstructed UMF No. 93 “Cerro Gordo” on August 17 after it began serving patients on July 13–14.
- The facility includes 51 consultorios covering family medicine, dentistry and trauma/orthopedics alongside imaging services, a laboratory, pharmacy and extended hours with weekend coverage.
- Since mid-July the clinic has provided more than 40,000 consultations in general medicine, urgent care, preventive services and estomatology for roughly 352,000 registered beneficiaries.
- Reconstruction cost 435 million pesos after a complete demolition following the 2017 earthquakes and pandemic-related delays, reflecting broader federal and state investment in eastern Mexico’s health infrastructure.
- The State of Mexico transferred the incomplete Hospital Oncológico de Ecatepec to IMSS as the first of 28 Plan Oriente actions feeding into a national push to unify IMSS, IMSS-Bienestar and ISSSTE by 2027.
