Sheff G Begins Five-Year Prison Term After Plea in Brooklyn Gang Case

The sentence follows a plea in which prosecutors said he used music income to fund gang violence.

Overview

  • The Brooklyn rapper, born Michael Williams, surrendered at Brooklyn State Supreme Court on Oct. 1 to start a five-year term.
  • He pleaded guilty in March to two counts of attempted murder and a conspiracy charge and will have five years of supervised release after prison.
  • Prosecutors sought about 20 years, but the judge imposed five, noting there was no proof he was a “trigger puller.”
  • Investigators cited surveillance video, social media, texts, and lyrics, and alleged he rewarded gang members, acted as a 2021 shooting getaway driver, and celebrated a 2020 killing with a steakhouse dinner.
  • The case stems from a 140-count indictment of 32 alleged members of the 8-Trey Crips and 9 Ways; 23 have pleaded guilty, and collaborator Sleepy Hallow received a one-year sentence last week after both appeared with Donald Trump at a 2024 Bronx rally.
