Overview
- Sheamus became an official free agent on Oct. 1 when his 90-day post‑WWE window expired, making him eligible to sign with other promotions.
- Multiple wrestling outlets report AEW is expected to take an interest in the 48‑year‑old and that a handful of current AEW wrestlers privately back bringing him in.
- There is no contract or public confirmation of a signing and reports caution AEW CEO Tony Khan has prioritized signing younger independent stars.
- Sheamus spent about two decades with WWE and won multiple world, secondary and tag titles plus the King of the Ring, Royal Rumble, and Money in the Bank, which boosts his crowd appeal.
- If AEW pursues him, the move could draw established WWE viewers and reshape match plans but sources say cost, age and roster strategy make an immediate deal uncertain.
