SharpEmu Runs Multiple PS5 Games at 60 FPS on PC
Improved SPIR‑V shader translation and updated Vulkan support have boosted emulator performance as developers continue to fix remaining stability and compatibility issues.
Overview
- SharpEmu developers said this week that the emulator’s v0.0.4-release.2 build produces playable 60 frames-per-second performance for multiple PS5 titles on high-end PCs.
- Tom's Hardware and FandomWire cite six specific games reported at 60 FPS — Dreaming Sarah, void tRrLM();++, New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Tetris Forever, Hoa, and Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered — with SharpEmu’s public compatibility list now showing seven playable entries.
- The developers credit better SPIR‑V shader translation and updated Vulkan API support in the Sept. 25 build for the gains, explaining those changes reduce rendering bottlenecks and speed shader execution on PC GPUs.
- SharpEmu’s ‘playable’ label does not mean flawless full‑game runs: the team says many titles have not been tested start-to-finish and users can still see graphical glitches, audio issues, and major slowdowns on demanding games.
- Other community projects such as KyTyPS5 and AnyPS5 are advancing with different techniques, and the progress could quicken preservation and PC access to PS5 software even though broad, stable compatibility for big exclusives is not yet achieved.
