Sharks Attack Two Anglers in Florida Keys Within 36 Hours

A 20-year-old college student was bitten twice by a 500-pound bull shark while spearfishing off Marathon, Florida and had to undergo multiple surgeries.
Less than 36 hours later, a 35-year-old fisherman had his foot bitten after reeling in a shark off a dock on Summerland Key.
Both victims were airlifted to a hospital in Miami for treatment of their injuries.
The conditions of the victims are currently unknown but the 20-year-old is expected to recover after nearly losing his leg.
Shark bites in Florida are rare but these back-to-back attacks serve as a reminder for residents and tourists to exercise caution when in waters where sharks are common.
