The attack took place in deep waters beyond the designated swimming areas, prompting officials to close the affected zone for 48 hours.
The nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed, and both were transported to a hospital in Port Ghalib for medical attention.
The Red Sea coastline is a popular tourist destination and a vital source of income for Egypt, which is facing severe economic challenges.
While shark encounters are rare in the region, a similar fatal attack occurred in June 2023 off the coast of Hurghada.
