Sharjah Extends Paid Parking Hours to Midnight

Sharjah Municipality says the change responds to rising evening parking demand to boost turnover, curb misuse, improve availability.

Overview

  • The municipality will charge paid public parking from 8am to midnight across Sharjah city, Kalba, Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid, effective July 1.
  • Public parking will remain free on Fridays and official holidays except for specific zones that will be charged seven days a week, including holidays.
  • Seasonal subscription fees will not increase and subscribers will receive two extra daily exemption hours, raising their free window from 14 to 16 hours.
  • Officials said the change follows a comprehensive study and resident feedback and is intended to reduce long evening searches for spaces that residents say sometimes took 20–30 minutes.
  • Sharjah reports about 124,000 paid spaces and is urging drivers to use SMS or the Digital Sharjah app to pay as enforcement and camera monitoring continue to manage turnover and curb misuse.
