Shari Redstone in Talks to Sell Paramount to Skydance
Deal could see Skydance acquire Paramount's movie assets, potentially selling off TV properties
- Shari Redstone, media mogul and daughter of late Paramount boss Sumner Redstone, is reportedly in talks to sell controlling interest in Paramount parent National Amusements to Skydance, a media and entertainment company led by David Ellison, son of Oracle founder Larry Ellison.
- Skydance, known for producing Paramount blockbusters such as “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” is primarily interested in Paramount’s intellectual property and its movie studio.
- Reports suggest that Skydance may look to sell off Paramount's TV assets, including CBS, MTV and Nickelodeon, if a deal is reached.
- Redstone had previously held talks with Amazon, Apple and Netflix earlier this year.
- The potential sale comes as traditional TV companies struggle to compete in the streaming age, with Paramount Global's rich library being a potential draw for media companies.
