Me'Arah O'Neal, daughter of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, has committed to play college basketball for the Florida Gators, turning down an offer from her father's alma mater, LSU.
Ranked No. 33 in the Class of 2024, Me'Arah had offers from several schools including Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee, Arizona State, Baylor, UCLA, and Georgia Tech.
Me'Arah's decision was influenced by her connection with Florida's coach Kelly Rae Finley, who she felt cared about her both on and off the court.
Florida's women's basketball team has started the 2023-24 season with two straight wins and recently secured a commitment from another top prospect, point guard Alivia McGill, ranked No. 16 by ESPN.
Me'Arah will be the fourth O'Neal child to begin a college basketball career, following her siblings Shareef, Amirah, and Shaqir.
