The 24-year program pairs O’Neal’s foundation with sponsors to bring essentials and festive experiences to underserved children.

Overview

  • On Dec. 16, the annual Shaq-A-Claus event at Fairview Elementary near Atlanta served roughly 600 pre-K through fifth-grade students with gifts including bikes, laptops, toys, scooters and clothing.
  • Shaquille O’Neal and his son Shareef distributed thousands of pairs of sneakers at the school, including new designs from his shoe line, according to reporting from The Sporting News via Yahoo Sports.
  • O’Neal told TMZ he wants to grow the effort into a presence in all 50 states, describing it as a goal he hopes to pursue with help from “50 of my biggest friends.”
  • The initiative runs on partner support that provided fresh haircuts (Great Clips), toys from World Tech Toys and Basic Fun, footwear from Galaxy Universal, apparel from Authentic Brands, Shaq-A-Licious gummies, winter coats and backpacks, and pizza from Papa John’s.
  • In a separate visit reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, O’Neal brought gifts to DeKalb School of the Arts and said he plans to return with 300 pairs of Reeboks and Shaq shoes, will try to secure 300 MacBook Pros, and will award $3,000 to the student with the highest final exam score.
