Shanghai Delegation to Visit Taipei for Annual City Forum

The 15th Shanghai-Taipei City Forum will focus on urban collaboration despite ongoing cross-strait tensions.

Shanghai Vice Mayor Hua Yuan will lead a delegation to Taipei for the Shanghai-Taipei City Forum on December 16-17, marking the first visit of its kind in six years.
The forum will center on topics such as smart governance, sustainable urban development, and citizen welfare, with plans to sign agreements on intelligent healthcare and red panda conservation.
Since its inception in 2010, the forum has facilitated 45 cooperation agreements and aims to enhance mutual understanding and collaboration between the two cities.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, a rising figure in Taiwan's Kuomintang party, will represent Taipei and is seen as a proponent of dialogue with mainland China.
The visit comes at a time of heightened military and political tensions across the Taiwan Strait, with China continuing to assert its claim over Taiwan while Taiwan's government seeks renewed talks.
