Shakopee Hockey Player Mikayla McCarvel Dies Following Car Crash

Mikayla McCarvel, a senior on Shakopee's girls hockey team, died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision on December 26.
The crash occurred at the intersection of County Road 21 and Tintaocanku, involving a car with four 17-year-olds, including McCarvel, and another vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man from Hastings.
McCarvel's father confirmed her death and revealed that her organs have been donated.
The Shakopee community held an emotional tribute at the Shakopee Ice Arena, where McCarvel was remembered for her vibrant personality, leadership qualities, and sense of humor.
Shakopee High School observed a moment of silence in McCarvel's honor before a hockey game, and her former coach remembered her as a good leader with a kind soul.
