Shakib Al Hasan Banned from Bowling in ECB Competitions for Illegal Action

The Bangladesh all-rounder exceeded the permitted elbow extension limit during a County Championship match for Surrey in September.

Shakib Al Hasan was suspended by the ECB after an independent assessment found his bowling action exceeded the 15-degree elbow extension limit.
The 37-year-old's action was reported by umpires during a one-off County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September.
The suspension took effect on December 10, following the ECB's receipt of the assessment results from Loughborough University.
To lift the ban, Shakib must undergo a reassessment and demonstrate compliance with ECB regulations on elbow extension.
Shakib, who recently retired from T20 internationals, has faced political controversies in Bangladesh and plans to retire from ODIs after the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
