Shakhtar cannot host games in Ukraine due to the ongoing war against Russia.
Last season Shakhtar played their European home games in Warsaw.
Shakhtar decided to play in Hamburg after considering options for the new season.
Hamburg's Volksparkstadion previously hosted European matches including the 2011 Europa League final.
The Volksparkstadion has a capacity of 57,000 spectators.
