Shah Rallies Khadi With ₹301 Crore Aid, New KVIC Projects and ₹5,000 Buy Appeal

He cast Khadi as a Gandhi‑rooted tool for rural employment under an Atmanirbhar growth drive, citing turnover near ₹1.7 lakh crore since 2014.

Overview

  • At Rohtak’s Khadi Karigar Mahotsav, Amit Shah distributed 2,298 machines and toolkits to artisans and released about ₹301 crore as PMEGP margin money.
  • Shah virtually launched KVIC initiatives including the Organic Cotton Central Sliver Plant in Wardha, a KVIC office and warehouse in Panchkula, a renovated Khadi Mall in Connaught Place, 762 workshops, 35 sales outlets and 8,310 PMEGP units.
  • He urged every household to purchase at least ₹5,000 of Khadi annually, following a Gandhi Jayanti visit and purchase at the Khadi India showroom in New Delhi.
  • Shah said Khadi and village industry turnover has risen from roughly ₹33,000 crore in 2014–15 to about ₹1.7 lakh crore, asserting the benefits flow to weavers and rural women.
  • He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for the sector’s revival and accused past Congress governments of neglecting Khadi after Independence.
