Shah Pledges Central Relief for Flood-Hit Maharashtra, Unveils First Cooperative CBG Plant and NCDC Push

Disbursal depends on a formal damage report from the state government.

  • Amit Shah said the Centre will release assistance once Maharashtra files a detailed assessment of losses after late-September rains damaged crops across more than 60 lakh hectares.
  • He inaugurated the expanded Dr Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil cooperative sugar factory in Ahilyanagar and addressed a farmers’ gathering.
  • In Kopargaon, he launched the country’s first cooperative compressed biogas plant, a ₹55 crore project designed to produce 12 tonnes of CBG and 75 tonnes of potash daily with offtake tie-ups with GAIL, BPCL, IFFCO and RCF.
  • Shah announced that 15 cooperative sugar mills will be selected for NCDC funding to set up CBG and potash units and urged mills to adopt multi-feed ethanol production with NCDC support.
  • He cited prior central releases of ₹3,132 crore and noted the state’s ₹2,215 crore package that includes direct cash assistance, food grains for affected families and a suspension of loan recoveries.
