Overview
- Amit Shah arrived in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Friday night for a three-day visit and will chair the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting at Wandoor on Saturday.
- Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and several MPs who sit on the panel are slated to take part in the meeting.
- In the afternoon, Shah will inaugurate an exhibition on the new criminal laws at the ITF Ground and later lay foundation stones for multiple projects at Netaji Stadium.
- Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan is on a parallel tour, visiting Car Nicobar and the Andaman and Nicobar Command during his Friday–Saturday program.
- Security has been tightened across South Andaman, with a district order banning drones and other aerial activities from January 2 to 4; Shah is scheduled to depart on January 4.
