Overview

  • On July 27 at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, Richardson was arrested and charged with fourth-degree domestic violence after allegedly shoving partner Christian Coleman and throwing headphones at him in a TSA checkpoint dispute.
  • Police and TSA reviewed security footage that showed Richardson repeatedly pushing Coleman into a wall, but Coleman declined to press charges or participate further in the investigation.
  • Richardson was booked into the South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, Washington, spent about 19 hours in custody, and was released the following day.
  • At the USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene on July 31, she posted an 11.07 second time in the 100m heat and then withdrew from the semifinal round.
  • USA Track and Field has said it is aware of the arrest reports but will not comment, and Richardson retains her automatic bye to the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo as the reigning 100m world champion.
