Overview

  • Officers were dispatched after multiple 911 hang-up calls about a domestic disturbance at a Tremonton home, and a man emerged with a gun as the first officer spoke with an occupant.
  • The gunfire killed two Tremonton-Garland officers; a Box Elder County deputy and his K-9 were struck when shots were fired into the deputy's vehicle, with the deputy later released from the hospital and the dog in fair condition.
  • Bystanders convinced the shooter to drop his weapon, allowing additional officers to detain him at the scene.
  • The suspect was booked into the Box Elder County Jail on aggravated murder and related charges, and SWAT teams cleared the residence and said there was no ongoing public threat.
  • Investigators cited support from agencies across Box Elder, Weber and Cache counties as they continue the homicide case.
