SFPD Probes Three Possible Suspects, Awaits DNA Results in Golden Gate Park Child Assault

City officials boosted security near the Polo Fields during after-school hours following the report.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers responded around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 to the Golden Gate Park Polo Fields after receiving a report of a sexual battery involving a minor.

  • Investigators believe the assailant had been loitering beforehand and may have approached another girl a day earlier, according to police.
  • Rec and Park implemented short-term safeguards including a weekday ranger post from 3–5 p.m., a rotating field monitor during after-school hours, additional spot checks, and a new security camera.
  • San Francisco Youth Soccer urged a restroom buddy system, and SFPD asked anyone with information to call 415-575-4444 or text TIP411 beginning the message with SFPD.
