Under Alonso, Sevilla did not win in eight league games and lost all four of its Champions League matches, finishing bottom of its group.
Alonso, who replaced José Mendilibar in October, only managed to secure two wins against lower-division rivals in the Copa del Rey.
Sevilla is currently in 16th place, level on points with Celta Vigo and Cadiz, and on the brink of the relegation zone.
Sevilla sports director Víctor Orta announced the club's intention to bring in a new coach as soon as possible.
