Storm System to Bring Heavy Rain, Wind, Snow, and Potential Thunderstorms

Severe weather conditions are expected to hit the East Coast of the US over the weekend, with a storm system bringing heavy rain, wind, snow, and potential thunderstorms.
Wind gusts of up to 70mph are expected in areas with Irish Sea coasts, with parts of the Midlands, northern England, and Northern Ireland expected to have gusts at between 45 and 55mph.
Rainfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches, with some rainfall rates of half an inch per hour possible. If this moderate rainfall rate lasts over one area too long it could lead to quick runoff and urban flash flooding.
Strong winds are also expected for coastal Long Island into New England later on Sunday, with wind gusts up to 60 mph possible. All of Long Island, Cape Cod and coastal Maine are under a high wind watch.
Sunday will see a continuation of unsettled conditions with periods of heavy rain affecting the vast majority of the UK, with western areas of Britain most likely to see further heavy rainfall into the evening.
