  • Argentina’s national meteorological service activated orange and yellow alerts for Jan. 8–9 across 16 provinces, citing storms capable of frequent lightning, hail, intense short‑period rainfall and damaging winds.
  • Orange‑alert zones include Córdoba, central Santa Fe, northern Entre Ríos, southern La Rioja, central and northern San Luis, eastern San Juan and northeastern Mendoza, with expected 50–100 mm of rain and gusts over 90 km/h.
