Severe WA Heatwave To Intensify And Sweep Into Southern States Next Week

  • The Bureau of Meteorology has issued severe heatwave warnings for the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, North and South Interior, and the Central Wheatbelt.
  • Kalgoorlie is officially forecast to hit 41°C on Saturday, 43°C on Sunday and 44°C on Monday as inland WA heat builds.
  • A hot air mass is expected to move into South Australia around Tuesday before extending into Victoria and New South Wales from Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Major cities will feel the heat, with Melbourne forecast around 30–39°C from Wednesday to Friday and Adelaide about 39–41°C, while Mildura could reach 45°C on Thursday.
  • Meteorologists say this burst is 5–10°C above average in WA and model guidance indicates some inland areas may reach 45–46°C, with a few spots possibly near 48°C.
