Severe Turbulence Forces Emergency Landing of United Airlines Flight in Texas

Five passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries after turbulence diverted a Houston-bound flight to Waco Regional Airport.

United Airlines Flight 5690, operated by SkyWest Airlines, encountered severe turbulence en route from Springfield, Missouri, to Houston, Texas.
The flight was diverted to Waco Regional Airport on Sunday evening, where it landed safely at approximately 6:30 PM CST.
Five passengers were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The turbulence was attributed to a nearby storm system affecting northern Texas, which also caused two American Airlines flights to divert to Waco.
The United Airlines plane will remain grounded in Waco for inspection by mechanics before resuming service.
