Overview

• Southwest and south-central Lower Michigan, including Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. with storms capable of 70 mph wind gusts.

• Southern Alabama counties face watches warning of pea-sized hail, 40 mph gusts and dangerous lightning, with authorities urging residents to shelter immediately.
• The NWS cautioned that these severe thunderstorms can develop with little notice and urged communities across the Plains, Great Lakes and Southeast to stay alert for possible tornado watches.
