Overview

  • As of Friday morning, more than 140,000 PECO customers were still without electricity after Thursday’s storm.
  • PECO activated its Emergency Operations Center and deployed about 1,400 outside contractors for what it calls a multi-day restoration.
  • Winds topped 70 mph in parts of Chester and Delaware counties, toppling trees and knocking down power lines.
  • A child was injured by a falling tree in East Oak Lane, and SEPTA’s Regional Rail resumed service with lingering delays.
  • The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat watch for Monday through Wednesday, raising concerns for those still without power.
