Seven Udanti-Area Maoists Surrender in Chhattisgarh, Hand Over Six Weapons

Police credit sustained security pressure alongside a state rehabilitation program.

  • The group turned themselves in to Gariaband police on Friday, with officials identifying them as members of the CPI (Maoist) Udanti Area Committee.
  • Police said the seven carried a combined reward of ₹37 lakh and included four women long active in the outfit.
  • Two identified as Sule alias Jagat Singh and Arjita Tekam alias Suresha were divisional committee leaders with ₹8 lakh rewards each.
  • The cadres surrendered one Self Loading Rifle, three Insas rifles and two country-made firearms, according to the police.
  • Authorities said the committee has operated across border forests of Gariaband, Dhamtari and parts of Odisha, and the surrender is being processed under the state policy offering financial aid, housing, education and employment.
