Overview
- In the holiday-shortened week ended December 28, seven of the most valued firms shed about Rs 35,439 crore in combined market value.
- State Bank of India saw the steepest drop, down Rs 12,692 crore to Rs 8.92 lakh crore, while Reliance Industries fell Rs 8,255 crore to Rs 21.09 lakh crore.
- Gainers included HDFC Bank, up Rs 10,127 crore to Rs 15.27 lakh crore, Infosys up Rs 6,627 crore, and Bharti Airtel up Rs 5,360 crore.
- Other declines came from Bajaj Finance (down Rs 5,102 crore), Larsen & Toubro (down Rs 4,003 crore), ICICI Bank (down Rs 2,571 crore), LIC (down Rs 1,803 crore) and TCS (down Rs 1,013 crore).
- The BSE Sensex ended the week up 112 points or 0.13%, and the top-10 ranking was unchanged with Reliance Industries still the most valued company.
