Seven Maoists Killed in Telangana Police Encounter

A top Maoist leader with a ₹20 lakh bounty was among those killed in a gunfight with the elite Greyhounds force during combing operations in Mulugu district.

The encounter occurred early Sunday morning in the Chalapaka forest area of Mulugu district, Telangana, during anti-Maoist combing operations by the Greyhounds force.
Seven Maoists, including Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru, a Telangana State Committee member of CPI (Maoist) with a ₹20 lakh bounty, were killed in the operation.
The Maoists opened fire on police after being ordered to surrender, prompting the security forces to retaliate.
Weapons recovered from the scene included AK-47, G3, and INSAS rifles, along with explosives and Maoist literature.
The operation follows the recent killing of two tribal men in the region by Maoists, who suspected them of being police informers.
