Seven Indian Firms Bid to Build AMCA Stealth Fighter as DRDO Panel Begins Evaluation

  • A committee chaired by former BrahMos leader A Sivathanu Pillai is reviewing technical and commercial proposals before recommending a shortlist to the Defence Ministry.
  • The procurement plan envisions shortlisting two partners to share about Rs 15,000 crore to build five AMCA prototypes before manufacturing rights are awarded.
  • The June EoI set an eight-year target to deliver a flight-worthy prototype, with series production targeted around 2035.
  • The Indian Air Force planning calls for roughly 120–126 aircraft in the initial order, with inductions expected from the mid‑2030s.
