Seven Charged Over Cobblebank Stabbings That Killed Boys, 12 and 15

The case advances following coordinated raids across Melbourne’s outer suburbs by homicide detectives alongside the VIPER taskforce.

  • Police arrested seven people after executing about a dozen warrants from 6am across Thornhill Park, Caroline Springs, Wollert, Melton South, Sunbury, Hillside and Sydenham.
  • A 19-year-old from Thornhill Park, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old were charged with the murder of 15-year-old Dau Akueng.
  • A 19-year-old from Caroline Springs, an 18-year-old from Wollert and a 16-year-old were charged with the murder of 12-year-old Chol Achiek.
  • Named defendants Prince Conteh, Peter Addo and Abel Sorzor appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court with no applications for bail, and the matter returns in December.
  • Police say the boys were attacked by multiple masked assailants wielding machetes or other long-edged weapons after leaving basketball, with patrols increased and public tips sought via Crime Stoppers.
