  • Seven men were indicted on June 11 on federal conspiracy and theft charges for stealing $100 million in gold, diamonds, rubies, emeralds and luxury watches from a Brinks semitruck.
  • Prosecutors say the group scouted a San Mateo jewelry show then tailed the truck for about 300 miles to a Lebec rest stop, where they seized 24 of 73 bags on July 11, 2022.
  • Authorities executing search warrants on June 16 recovered portions of the stolen jewelry linked to the heist.
  • Two defendants were arrested and arraigned on June 17, one remains in an Arizona prison awaiting federal court and four co-defendants are still at large.
  • Five suspects also face Hobbs Act robbery and electronics theft charges for earlier 2022 cargo heists, each count carrying up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
