Overview

• A 40-year-old Newport man became the eighth arrest in the inquiry and remains in custody for violent disorder.
• Officers were dispatched at 3.20 pm on 1 August to reports of a mass brawl on Commercial Road involving improvised pole-like weapons.
• Four people received hospital treatment for injuries deemed non–life-threatening, with two patients already discharged.
