• On July 14, Additional Sessions Judge AV Hirpara rejected Vasava’s regular bail plea, ruling that his release risked witness intimidation and case tampering.
• The court admitted an audio-video transcript and footage showing Vasava allegedly threatening to vandalise government offices and jails if not freed.
• He was arrested on July 5 under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for attempted murder after allegedly attacking a taluka panchayat president with a mobile phone and glass shards.
• Vasava faces charges including criminal intimidation, insulting a woman’s modesty, voluntary hurt and property damage under the new BNS code and has 18 bookings since 2014 with a recent six-month assault sentence.
• His defense counsel said they will now move the Gujarat High Court seeking bail relief.
