Services Set for John Mulrooney, Comedian and Former Late-Night Host, Dead at 67

Public services are scheduled in Staten Island next week following his sudden death in upstate New York.

  • Mulrooney died suddenly at his home in Coxsackie, New York, on Dec. 29, 2025, and no cause of death has been released.
  • Visitation will be held Jan. 4 from 2–6 p.m. at Casey Funeral Home on Staten Island, with a funeral Jan. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Family.
  • Known for sharp crowd work, he hosted Fox’s Comic Strip Live, filled in on The Late Show after Joan Rivers’ departure, and appeared on HBO, Showtime and other platforms.
  • He later cohosted radio shows in New York, Cleveland and Albany, served as a Coxsackie police officer from 2010 through 2024, and performed USO tours for U.S. service members.
