Serve Robotics to Acquire Diligent Robotics for $29 Million to Expand Into Healthcare

Serve positions the move as extending its people-safe autonomy from sidewalks to hospitals.

Overview

  • The all-stock deal values Diligent at $29 million with up to $5.3 million in performance-based earnouts, and the companies expect to close in the first quarter of 2026.
  • Diligent’s Moxi robots handle hospital tasks such as transporting lab samples and medications, with more than 100 units deployed across 25 U.S. hospitals.
  • Diligent will keep operating under CEO Andrea Thomaz in Austin, where it employs about 215 people, and Serve says it has no plans to change the workforce or relocate the team.
  • Serve says this is not a pivot from sidewalk delivery and plans to share software and tools with Diligent over time, ultimately moving toward a common autonomy stack.
  • Serve reports growing its delivery fleet from roughly 100 to over 2,000 robots in 2025, signed a DoorDash partnership in Los Angeles, and previously went public via a reverse merger in April 2024 with backing from Nvidia and Uber.
