Serpentine Sets First David Hockney Exhibition for March–August 2026

Two London shows extend Hockney’s post-Paris momentum by spotlighting a pandemic frieze plus new iPad series.

Overview

  • Serpentine North will host its inaugural Hockney exhibition from 12 March to 23 August 2026.
  • The presentation features A Year in Normandie (2020–21), a 90-metre frieze inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, ahead of the tapestry’s planned British Museum display in September 2026.
  • Recent digital practice will be on view with iPad works from the Sunrise series and the Moon Room.
  • Hockney’s large retrospective at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris closed on 1 September after showing more than 400 works.
  • Annely Juda Fine Art will open its new Hanover Square gallery with a Hockney show from 7 November 2025 to 28 February 2026, featuring very recent paintings and the first complete presentation of the Moon series.
