Overview

  • A truck collided with a tram on Hamburg­er Straße in Dresden around 11 a.m., injuring the driver and shattering the tram’s window during a full street closure.
  • A 19-year-old Mercedes-AMG driver in Bocholt lost control at high speed, pushing a parked VW Golf into fiber-optic cabinets and cutting internet service for dozens of households.
  • On the A7 near the Hittistetten interchange, a motorhome struck a safety trailer and overturned, seriously injuring its lone driver who was airlifted as the motorway remained closed.
  • Three lorries collided in succession on the A52 near Niederkrüchten, seriously injuring one driver and blocking the motorway, while on the A36 near Quedlinburg a VW Passat overturned, trapping its 26-year-old driver until firefighters freed him.
  • In late-afternoon incidents a transporter collided head-on with a Renault on the B2 in Zschölkau—flipping onto its roof and injuring occupants including a child—and in Hamburg a motorcycle and cyclist crash left both with moderate injuries.
