• Convicted serial killer Billy Mansfield has confessed to the 1980 murder of 18-year-old Carol Ann Barrett in Florida, bringing the confirmed count of his victims to six.
• Barrett, from Ohio, was on spring break with friends when she was abducted from their motel room in Daytona Beach; her body was found the next day in Jacksonville.
• Mansfield, who was 24 at the time of the murder, became a suspect in Barrett's case in 2022 and confessed after two years of interviews.
• Mansfield is currently serving a life sentence in California and four concurrent life sentences in Florida for previous murders committed between 1975 and 1980.
